Getting it all started- A detailed statistical study in collaboration with the Indore Cancer Foundation

Around the end of March, we started drawing a basic framework or outline of all that we seek to achieve through the project. The major objective that all of us had in mind while developing the outline of the project was to increase awareness amongst the high- risk prone cancer populations regarding cancer, its symptoms and its diagnosis. Thus, we came up with the idea of conducting detailed statistical surveys in Indore and surrounding regions to have an idea about the varying extents to which people are aware about cancer and also, extract information about their habits which may make it increasingly likely for such populations to suffer from this disease.

Thus, we made sure that we not only covered a broad population, but also ensured the authenticity of the results at the same time. We then classified and compiled this data and categorized the vast population into low, medium and high risk- prone populations. Our study revealed some surprising facts. A large population of people fit into the high- risk prone population. This simply meant that a large proportion of people are not only aware of how their habits may make them potential targets of cancer, but also that if not diagnosed in time, they may lose their precious lives to this fatal disease.

We knew we had to do something about it. And hence, in the coming weeks, the students of the Emerald Heights International School shall be working in collaboration with the doctors from the Indore Cancer Foundation to raise multiple awareness campaigns for this high- risk prone population. The campaigns shall focussed at increase awareness on the habits which may contribute to the development of cancer, the symptoms of cancer and its diagnosis. We believe that a large number of cases of cancer can be prevented by identifying the potential cancer- prone population and increasing awareness about cancer amongst them.

We are also planning to do a lot more under this project. So, for further updates, keep following our daily blogs.
